Hunting & Fishing

With expert guides and incredibly remote big game habitat, Thunderbird has developed one of the most successful hunting experiences in the industry. All of our hunting areas can only be accessed by air, and we have secured the exclusive right to these lakes and rivers for our hunting guests' private use.

Our Black Bear hunts (spring and fall) boast an 85% success rate with either bow or rifle, and most trophies are in the 6ft (1.8m) class or better. Here's a bonus for bear hunters; since most bears are taken in the twilight hours, great fishing can be enjoyed all day at any Thunderbird location. What a great way to pass the day before going on stand.

Outfitting Moose Hunting is not only our specialty... it's our favourite and most exciting form of hunting. These hunts take place during the rutting season, and our veteran guides match voices with the animals to get them in close for you. If you have ever intimidated a twelve hundred pound Bull Moose to within 50ft (15m) of you, as is sometimes the case, you'll experience a thrill that's hard to duplicate. All hunters have the opportunity to wet a line, and be able to experience a tasty Canadian shore lunch during their hunt. All our hunts are fully guided, outfitted, and include licenses, export permits, game transportation, and plenty of memories.

The waters here are so productive, you'll have days when you can expect to 'catch and release' over 100 fish! 40 inch (102cm) plus Northern Pike are plentiful, as are Walleye in the 22-26 inch (56-66cm) range, and 28-30 inch (71-76cm) are not uncommon. There are always more than enough Walleye to fill the frying pan at God's Gift to dining - the shore lunch. Sizzling pans of Walleye, potatoes, and a side of beans -- it's heaven on a plate.

Our pristine waters are a combination of fast-rushing rivers and streams, quiet bays, and placid lakes, perfect for a healthy production of Walleye and Northern Pike. Thunderbird guests are encouraged to practice 'catch & release' fishing at all lodge and outpost waters. This is vital to ensure future generations the same great angling experience you'll enjoy. Eat all the fish you want while you're up here, but please leave your 'take home' limit in the lake. All trophy size Walleye and Northern should be carefully released. Record your memories on film, or opt for a replica mount. Manitoba regulations call for barbless hooks.

All Thunderbird guests, at any of our outposts, can be assured of great Walleye and Northern fishing. Very few anglers have ever fished these waters and they're yours to discover on your own in a private and peaceful setting.
